I have just had a mammogram can I still take part
Yes! It means that we won’t be able to tie in your blood sample with your mammogram visit but you will be able to go to your doctor’s surgery instead.
I don’t have my mammogram at a breast unit, can I still take part?
As long as you have annual mammograms you will still be able to take part.
I only have a mammogram every 3 years can I take part?
Unfortunately no. For this study only women who are eligible for yearly mammograms can take part.
I have had one cancer diagnosis can I still take part?
Yes, as long as you are eligible for annual mammograms
What will happen if I am diagnosed with breast cancer?
If you are diagnosed with breast cancer we will stop asking for annual blood samples. We would though like to obtain a sample of your breast tissue which will enable a more sensitive analysis of the ctDNA in your blood. We will collect this from the hospital in which you were treated.
Why won’t I get any results from the study?
At the moment samples are analysed for research purposes only. In order to be able to be able to use ctDNA as an early marker of breast cancer in the future, we have to collect the samples and then wait. In the first instance, we are only going to analyse the blood samples of women who develop breast cancer.
How can I be sure that my data will be safe?
We take data protection and security very seriously. We follow the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR and University of Cambridge Policies on data protection and security.
